inspired by the Orisha Chango, I led participants through an exploration of ideas of power, masculinity, and femininity. My research on the god of war, dance, thunder, and fire lead me to various myths of his fluidity in expression, inspiring my exploration of him as a figure rooted in power rather than in strict ideas of masculine gender. using the traditional dances of Chango as a jumping off point, we utilized the characteristics brought up in group discussion to embody power through movement.
